25 Books to Read in 2017

24 books to read in 2017 // Girl for Granted

Hiii! Long time, no see, right? I hope 2017 is treating you well so far, despite the goings on of the world, I really think we’re in for a good one. I might be a little late on this one, but after quite a big absence (sorry not sorry, too busy enjoying summer!) I wanted to pop in and share the books I read in 2016, even if I didn’t quite get through the same number as I read in 2015 – you can see that list here! 2016’s books were mostly enjoyable, if not emotionally wrenching – I’m looking at you, A Little Life.

I have quite eclectic taste and read a real mix last year, so I have plenty of recommendations to give. If you’re after a summer beach read, or are curling up on a winter’s day, I’d highly recommend The Night Circus, American Wife, and any of the Liane Moriarty books below. If you’re after something more literary, give The Wonder, Our Souls At Night, or Music and Freedom a whirl. I’m also so pleased to have so many Australian authors on my 2016 reading list!

If you’re stuck for how to approach your 2017 reading or just need some ideas to get you going, I love the idea of using a checklist like this one. I also think it’s a great idea if you’re trying to diversify your reading – after all, the more voices we read that are different to our own, the better we understand the world. I will happily chat books for hours and hours on end and LOVE giving recommendations, so hit me up on the old email if you’re interested in book chat – girlforgranted@gmail.com
