Today is ANZAC Day in Australia and New Zealand. For those of you who may be unfamiliar, ANZAC Day commemorates our fallen soldiers. It is a hugely significant day in Australia. If it falls on a weekday, we get a public holiday – this year, alas, it falls on a Saturday, so no public holiday. Instead, today we’ll rise for dawn services to remember our fallen, attend marches through the streets, lay wreaths on memorials, and head to the pub to play two up on the only day of the year it’s legal. ANZAC Day is a lot of fun, and it’s a shame we don’t get a holiday this year, but that’s not the point. The point is to remember our fallen and their sacrifices that enabled our small but mighty nation to grow into it’s own. Lest we forget.
On a lighter note, I spotted some great pieces around the internets this week. Here goes.
1// 24 Secrets Twentysomethings Will Never Tell You. Yes. Yes yes yes. Some of these are total exaggerations, but most are pretty accurate. Three and four, I’m looking at you.
2// Loved this navy dress on Mackenzie! It almost looks as good as the view… almost.
3// I was so thrilled that All The Light We Cannot See won the Pulitzer Prize! Seriously, I’m a literature nerd and I LOVED this book. Put it on your list, pronto.
4// In case you missed it – I wrote about work/life balance this week, and so did about a billion other people. Check out my post here to see what we’ve all got to say.
5// Networking tips from Lauren Conrad. If they worked for LC, they’ll work for me, right?
