vertical stripes

Stripes, that most basic of patterns, just aren’t going away. They’ll always be classic and fresh, and an oft-used strategy in my style playbook. Especially when they are of the vertical variety.

Most recently, a playsuit patterned with vertical stripes caught my attention. I fell, hard. Since then, I’ve been seeing them everywhere – that old story of having something brought to your attention, and then seeing or hearing it everywhere you go. However, the proportions of playsuits can often be tricky (long torso situation going on here), and not being in a city with access to bricks and mortar stores makes it challenging to purchase something that can so easily be so wrong. Playsuits definitely fall into the unfortunate ‘must try on’ category. So instead of taking the risk, I’ve compromised with the vertical stripes pictured above. Perfect for your casual Friday, perfectly off duty for weekend coffee runs or brunch, and easily dressed up with heels and my favourite leather skirt for a night out.

The pattern is simple enough to team with a patterned clutch or bright colour for extra pop – try the Witchery number pictured above for added texture. Add summer sandals, and an effortless hat for breezy summer simplicity. While I won’t have a chance to purchase any more vertical stripes anytime soon, my lust lives on – see above, a round up of my favourite pieces, and styling ideas for vertical stripes, just in time for the weekend.

Thoughts on vertical stripes? Any patterns you’re loving at the moment? xx
