Hello Spring

hello spring on girl for grantedTo state the obvious, winter is over. It’s a gloriously sunny day, warm with a hint of a late storm. The sidewalk sections of cafes are bustling as we take in as much post winter sun as possible – a side of vitamin D with my chai, please.

The flowers at the farmer’s market on the weekend were just a hint of what will be available in the coming weeks. Ranunculus, sweet peas and my new favourite, anemones, have all hit the stalls in the last couple of weeks – there were some seriously Pinterest worthy displays this past weekend. The colours of spring are so refreshing after the dull dog days of winter, and so complementary to the abundance of pastels in store right now – colour blocking with pastels and a splash of white, navy or chambray feels like a much fresher way to do spring attire than the ubiquitous florals that seem to appear at this time of year.

The other part of spring and summer that I’m seriously looking forward to? Fruit. Late spring into early summer is favourite part of the year for fruit and veg. Peaches, apricots, berries, watermelon, figs, cherries, pineapple, the last of winter’s crisp apples… I could go on.

But for now, bring on peony season, weather warm enough for shorts and outdoor swimming, and a huge bowl of freshly cut fruit and I’ll be a happy girl.

Do you have any plans for the coming months, be they warming up or cooling off? x

Completely forgot you were in Australia and was like why is she blogging about spring! It’s the first day of Autumn here so we have the days of knitwear and pumpkin lattes ahead.
