READS

reading, recently

If you’ve stopped by amyforgranted before, you likely know that I love reading, and I read a lot – or at least I try to. I have a Kindle loaded with heaps of titles, an iPad and an extensive collection of ‘real’ paper books as well, many of which I am yet to read. I’ve been trying to read as much as possible over this summer break and also trying to switch it up a little. I’ve read light and fluffy chick lit novels, a modern American classic, a true story of finding one’s self, an much-buzzed about epic set in Iceland, and I’ve just started last year’s Booker Prize winner. I can honestly recommend each of these books for so many different reasons.

Between Christmas and New Year, I wanted something light and easy to read – though it covers lots of quite challenging themes and is very emotional, Wild was actually really great to read in that period. Brooklyn Girls was definitely light and fluffy, but I enjoyed it all the same! The other books I’ve read recently are FreedomBurial Rites and The Luminaries (which I’m working my way through at the moment). And for all of them – wow. Just wow. Heart-wrenching, emotionally captivating and incredibly well written. Pick up any of them and you’re in for a ride.
